The Skin Prick Test (SPT) is a safe, quick, and reliable diagnostic procedure used to identify allergic reactions to common environmental allergens such as dust mites, pollen, mold, pet dander, and certain foods. During the test, small amounts of suspected allergens are applied to the skin—usually on the forearm or upper back—and then lightly pricked or scratched. If a person is allergic to a substance, a small raised, red, itchy bump (similar to a mosquito bite) will appear at the test site within 15–20 minutes. The Skin Prick Test is widely used in diagnosing allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema, and food allergies, and helps guide personalized allergy management plans, including avoidance strategies, medications, or immunotherapy. It is a minimally invasive and highly effective method for identifying specific allergens triggering symptoms.
